Building
I'm partway through the Postdigital Lutherie master's at Kunstuni Linz, which is a long way of saying I try to build instruments that didn't exist before and then have to learn how to play them.
Right now most of my attention goes to a solo live set: extended drum kit with sensory percussion, an OP-XY, and lighting I trigger from behind the kit rather than handing to someone at a desk. One person on stage, ideally no laptop to babysit. It's the hardest thing I've tried to make and the first one that feels like mine.
Running alongside it is the WindGate, a physical controller with its own synth engine. The hardware works. The engine is still an argument I'm having with myself.
Working
Part-time at Responsive Spaces as an audio-visual experience artist, making installations and interactions that live in rooms rather than on screens. Good people, good problems.
Practicing
A few hours a week, split between drums (where I'm most comfortable), the OP-XY (what I started learning), and guitar (where I'm a beginner and it shows). Slow, unglamorous, mostly unrecorded.
Away from the workshop
Planning a week on the Alpe-Adria route end of September this year. Salzburg to Grado, mostly on gravel. Otherwise: cooking mostly vegetarian and seasonal, , soldering, 3D-printing panoramic camera bodies that mostly don't work yet, and keeping my brain active with learning new things.
